First Look at Collaborations

Ok so me and Sike (aka Phil Shaffer) have been working on making some collaborative paintings.  And here are two of these paintings in an early state.  We are going to be making around 15 of these bad boys and girls but just 5 to start with.  These are the first 2 they are about 24" x 48" and 48" x 24" mixed media on plywood panel.

OH, my these are small paintings

So these two paintings are super small for me no side over 12".
The image of the one on top is finished but still needs a title.
The image of the one on the bottom is not finished but does have a working title Victorian Dinosaurs.
I also have two more of these small paintings that at this time are very early in the works.
All of these will be on view at the UCP open studio's on the weekend of May 18-19, my studio is in the Town Pavilion Building at 1100 Walnut St. Kansas City MO, for more information about the open studio's go to www.charlottestreet.org or www.urbanculturestudioresidents.wordpress.com.

Table shot

So its been a busy March so far. I have been in lots of meetings for a # of projects that sound super fun. Plus there have been 3 more studio visits since my wife came by. Many thanks to the visitors Heather Lustfeldt, Warren Rosser, and Brady Haston. I am trying to set up some more of these visits as I build new stuff to paint, I am always interested in any feedback I can get.

Studio Visit #1 This Year

This is a picture that Michelle took of my studio the other day thought it looked pretty cool so I decided to share it here.

Here is Michelle visiting the studio on a different day and we were talking about how some of the forms I have need to hang on the wall. The one she is gesturing towards is one that will in new versions most likely hang on a wall. She did not even notice that I snapped this foto of her.

And for shits and giggles here is an earlier maquette CB Mellow (on the left) with another maquette that I am working on right now title unknown.

Side note for anyone who doesn't know Michelle is my lovely wife and the owner/operator of Two Tone Press.

Stickers, Stickers, Stickers!!!

So if you didn't know, last year I got an Inspiration Grant to get a vinyl cutter to make stencils with, which I have to say has been going well. I really like how things are turning out so far. So since I have the equipment and I have been purchasing the vinyl in grouped deals I got some vinyl that can not be used as stencils. No problem cause I made some skull stickers from old and new drawings in my sketchbook. If your interested in a vinyl skull sticker hit me up, I got 3 sizes small, medium, and large.

and this is the right panel.

This is a piece I started this past fall the panel sizes are about 18" x 24".
As new layers come and go I will post more of this piece. It is the first piece
that I started using the vinyl cutter to cut stencils for.
