December Post & Yep It's Late

Lets start out with just some images of new work that is finished

The one on the left is for sure completed and in this photo it is a little washed out by the light. The one on the right is a cut paper piece that I am not sure is finished but its really close.

Went to SLAM the other day and saw the new Currents exhibit of Dave Hullfish Bailey and  I really enjoyed this piece.

I forget to write down the title of this particular work and its just part of the whole here but I was very moved by it.

Also way back earlier in November I was at the museum for several hours to interact with any of my students who wanted me to be at the museum as they worked on various projects for me and I viewed a body of work in the Print & Photo galleries that was pretty awesome so here are a couple of pics from that show.

 Sam Gilliam

 Ed Clark

Also I had a squirrel get into the attic space at the place I'm living it fell down into a wall and broke its neck and a foot was sticking out where baseboard would be good thing that was off for remodeling other wise there would have been a terrible smell later on.

The last day of Drawing One at Jeffco has come and gone as of this post so here is a picture of us after the final crit.

Of Course I'm Late for the November Post!!!!

So yeah I'm a couple of days late it happens, LOL!!!

Boulevardier                         Dirty Fingers from sanding Paintings

My drink for the month of October was the Boulevardier, and I have been sanding the surface of a bunch of paintings. The end results with the discoloration of my fingers and hands. I'm digging the new paintings they are very much in progress & I'm working on some new projections as well as using some flocking on these beauties.

Here are a couple of terrible fotos.

So Drawing class is going well
So here is a pic of a bunch of tree drawings from October!

Oh my is it October already!

Well shit I can't believe it October that came faster than expected but it was needed for me. Not a lot of new art things at the moment still working on paintings for a show in March. These works are starting to take shape but I need to get it in gear and start making the most of my free time. I have really been enjoying teaching the drawing class this semester its way more enjoyable than Art Appreciation, now don't get me wrong the students in my Art App. are pretty interesting especially the ones that will engage in conversation. It's just I'm not an art historian I'm an artist I want to make things. I hope that I will continue to teach more classes that are the act of making artwork as to the history part of the art world. (I am currently teaching one drawing class & three Art Appreciations)
I will not be doing sober October this year which I have done for the last three - four years, it's just not going to happen.
Wish me luck as I am about to start on that journey of applying to the job openings across the nation. I will update this kind of info. as to where I have applied and how it's going, I would like to apply to at least 20 this year. I'm nervous about the other none collegiate jobs I have been try to do, as this fall no classes where a go. And as always I am worried about future work at the moment. Sorry no photos this time around its been busy I hope to take some picks of student work this month for midterm grading purposes so those could hit the blog next month with I hope some of my new work. This is a shorty but ya know.

I HAVE RETURNED SORRY FOR BEING GONE SO LONG

OKAY, I know I have not posted on this blog in over three years but I am rededicating myself to a once a month post beginning today the 1st of Sept. 2019. Quick update for those that don't know LMAO cause who follows this and doesn't know but anyway. I have finished grad school, lived in Utah for a gorgeous summer to mid winter minute, moved in with my Rents for a while, started teaching at my old Junior College/Community College, and have moved now to the StL. So like I have said I moved to the StL this past spring its been tough being alone now and trying to make work while working and struggling to make ends meet. I got a pretty good deal at the moment I get a place to live while I work on a this place for the owner. But there is a time frame for the work to be done, gonna try to stay and get some roommates when that time comes. Not really into roommates but gotta do what I gotta do at this time.

I have shown work in KCMO since moving back to my home town area. I had a show last year (2018) with the Kiosk Gallery, if you are in KCMO check them out they are in the Livestock Exchange Building in the West Bottoms. https://kioskgallerykc.com/

Parts of Something, which was a collection of works from my time in grad school with one of the pieces being reworked due to damage with all of my recent moving, I think it looks better now.

After that I was contacted by one of the co-directors (Lisa Guavara) at Tugboat Gallery (http://www.tugboat.gallery/ ) in Lincoln, NE about participating in a group show with them this summer. And I was like yeah lets do it. That was in June and I drove up to install three large works and hang out for the opening.

Acrylic, Spray paint, & Marker on Custom Cradled Panels
2016

 XXL Piano Dolly

After that adventure which it was due to the flooding of the Missouri river and the trek I drove into Kansas, I didn't do much till I drove back up to uninstall my pieces. Second trip much smoother as the flood waters had started to recede and I29 was open.

For the summer I have worked on the house and for the St. Louis Artist Guild, started on some paintings for the U-City Library (http://www.ucpl.lib.mo.us/) where I will be showing this coming March 2020. No real deets on that at the moment so here is a WIP

It doesn't even look like this as I type this, and will change even more tonight. So that catches ya up on the art making side. Oh SHIT I almost forgot I also installed a new Fake Rock False Boulder at the St. Louis Artist Guild the 1st week of August.

So that takes care of the art making I will address some of the other shit next month like how teaching is going what I am teaching/have been teaching.  And some stuff that is inspiring me lately too, see you all next month.
